Praise for Jennifer Lawrence as Tiffany

Silver Linings Playbook is the first movie I have seen this year. I was actually pitching on watching it in theater with my good friend, but due to conflict of schedule from her work and mine, I decided to wait until the movie becomes available online. 

When I saw the trailer last year, I didn't exactly know what triggered in me to like it at first glance, so I played the trailer again. On the second look, there I noticed this brunette, gothic-looking girl, and speaking in husky voice was actually Jennifer Lawrence. That teenaged Katniss from Hunger games is playing a romcom with the Hangover star, Bradley Cooper. I was very amused.

I am not the type of fan who really follows Jennifer Lawrence, but after watching this movie, I guess I am starting to be one. Her performance was very compelling. She played Tiffany, a young widow; who lost her job and is recovering from sex addiction. Tiffany was supposed to be played by Anne Hathaway according to the casting director, but turned it down because Anne was shooting The Dark Knight Rises then. Well, I have no doubt Anne will be amazing for Tiffany as she played lots of this kinds of roles, but I must have to commend Jennifer in three "F's" Fierce, Feverish, and Fresh for this award-winning performance as Tiffany.

Fierce

Jennifer was evidently fierce in her character when she blatantly exploded in front of Pat (Bradley) at the Diner. She dropped in disgust when Pat admitted to her that he feels sorry for her condition, and that he thinks she was crazier than him. I literally held my breath watching her in this scene. She was very effective. Bravo!

Feverish

I never thought Jennifer can actually dance. Well, I guess most of us do have some hidden skills in dancing,  we just never really like to show it on public unless it's for a good role such as Tiffany. This was the actual competition scene in the movie, and Jennifer brought the house down with her sexy bootie "swave". She looks so hot!

Fresh

Watching Jen in this romcom was totally refreshing. She was indeed only 21 when she shot this film. Despite that gothic-look at the beginning scene where she and Pat met,  her endearing and soft-charming face was a breath of fresh air. 

I will be rooting for this movie at the Academy Awards on Feb 24. The film has received six nominations such as Best Motion Picture; Best Actor; Best Actress; Best supporting Actor; Best supporting Actress; Best Director; and Best Adapted Screenplay.

And my girl- Jennifer Lawrence will be competing against Emmanuelle Riva for Amour;Jessica Chastain for Zero Dark Thirty; Naomi Watts for The Impossible; and Quvenzhané Wallis for Beasts of the Southern Wild. She can have a shot on this award (I'm guessing) after winning Best Actress at the Globes and proudly beating Meryll Streep in the face (LOL). 

I am keeping my hopes very high, and pray that she bags the Oscars.
